TRACKING WILDLIFE OVER LAND AND SEA

TechnoSmArt was founded by field biologists and engineers with decades of hands-on experience in wildlife tracking across diverse environments—on land and at sea. We design and manufacture miniaturized GPS devices, accelerometers, magnetometers, TDRs and advanced bio-logging solutions used worldwide to study birds, mammals and wildlife in their natural habitats.

Our instruments are specifically developed for wildlife biologists, combining ultra-low power consumption, high performance and flexible configuration, even in the most challenging field conditions.

Alongside a range of ready-to-use products, TechnoSmArt also offers custom development and device adaptation, tailoring technology to your research needs whenever possible.
Just get in touch: we work side by side with researchers to find the most effective solution—because TechnoSmArt is not just an electronics company, but a partner in scientific discovery.

Cheetah fitted with a GPS tracking collar for mammal movement ecology and wildlife monitoring studies

Proximity is a miniature UHF-based logger designed to quantify social interactions between individuals. The Proximity sensor is based on remote UHF pinging between two or more devices. Users can select different signal power levels to tune the maximum reception distance. Proximity logging can be configured from every 1 second up to once per hour. Data can be retrieved via cable or through a Base Station workflow, and the sensor can be integrated into compatible platforms.

The Mammal-Trek Remote is a GPS with a tri-axial accelerometer and Remote data download via UHF up to 2 Km. The Mammal-Trek Remote can record a large amount of different behavioral data at once, allowing a new range of behavioral studies. Fully schedulable device to meet a wide range of research needs. Several sensors can be included in this device such as pressure/temperature, light and dry/wet.

Axy-Trek Marine HD is designed for deep-diving species, featuring a pressure sensor rated down to 1000 m. This high-depth version integrates GPS and tri-axial acceleration with a 1000 m pressure sensor and a fast-response temperature sensor. Add-on sensors (light, water-switch) enable smart GPS activation strategies, maximizing data yield and battery life for deep-diving deployments.

The Base Station is a stand-alone unit that manages automatically all Remote devices in its working range.

Valve-Trek is a revolutionary device designed to study the fine-scale behavior of bivalves. This includes an accelerometer and magnetometer and can be integrated with sensors to record the temperature and the depth (up to 400 meters). While the accelerometer can help to identify the activity of bivalves, the magnetometer can be used to measure the opening of valves.

Axy 5 S is a compact tri-axial accelerometer designed for studies that need extended battery life while keeping size and weight low. Axy 5 S is the evolution of the Axy 4 platform and integrates a magnetometer plus fully scheduled recordings, allowing researchers to maximize battery life by recording only when needed. It records tri-axial acceleration for fine-scale behavioural classification and energy-expenditure studies. A built-in temperature sensor is included, while a high-accuracy pressure/temperature sensor (TDR) can be integrated for diving or flying species. Available with a pressure sensor (for flying and marine animals).

Axy 5 XS is the smallest member of the Axy 5 family, designed for applications where weight and size are critical. Axy 5 XS integrates a magnetometer and fully programmable recording schedules to maximize efficiency and battery life. It records tri-axial acceleration for behavioural pattern recognition and energy-expenditure estimation. A temperature sensor is included, while an optional high-accuracy pressure/temperature sensor (TDR) enables use on diving or flying animals.

The Gipsy 6 is a miniature GPS data logger with accurate energy management. The small size of the Gipsy 6 makes it suitable for applications where weight and dimensions are critical.  This makes this GPS a good choice for a wide range of animals. In the smallest configuration, the Gipsy 6 weight only 1.5g for 15 days of recording. Gipsy 6 is fully customizable to be used in a wide range of aquatic and terrestrial animals.
